Under the Skin

2018, A solo show at Mulvane Museum of Art in Topeka, KS.

Under the Skin is a collection of carved clay blocks, much like broken pieces of buildings. The pieces, fired in iron-red, black, and white, are initially ordered by color. Visitors are invited to reorder the forms. The clay, underneath the skins, is a mixture of naturally colored clay bodies; the fired surface is just a skin.
