Under the Skin / The Human Dance
2018, From the exhibition Rise Fall Rise
The Human Dance is an installation meant to be interacted with. The 12 standing sculptures, suggestive of figures, are on wheeled sculpture stands. They are presented in the gallery space illuminated by a looped video projection that mixes and merges traditional textile patterns from many countries with the words, “Welcome Home,” in related languages. As the video progresses, the patterns and words merge. The colors of the projection change the surface and expressive content of the sculptural work. Visitors are welcome to move the pieces, arranging them in conversation groups, or isolating them.
