  • Artist statements are a work in progress. I rewrite my statements continually; all are true, none are accurate. All reflect a moment, a place, a perspective, an obsession and investigation. All are shallow, incomplete, not layered enough, smart enough, or revealing enough. So, I keep trying. I love writing artist statements. Each time I write, it helps me form a closer vision of what I do and where I might go next, but equally, writing shapes my understanding of what I have just finished.
